Equal – No Small Thing

One of my favorite Elvis movies was “Follow that Dream.” Elvis had to supervise two young brothers. When they’d get into disputes, which they inevitably did, Elvis would toss them a candy bar with the instructions to split it. When the older brother would break the treat into halves, the younger brother would cry out that the halves were not equal, that his brother’s portion was bigger. The older brother then bit off a chunk or two until the two halves were the same size. Even though the older brother ended up getting more candy, this seemed to satisfy the younger brother. Think of a time when you needed to come up with a solution where everyone concerned felt they were getting equal treatment. Describe the situation.  How did both parties feel about the solution?  What might you have been grateful about?
