World-renowned spiritual guide Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar speaks with Rajan Navani, Chairman, CII [email protected] Council and Founder & CEO JetSynthesys on how we can carve a successful path for India at 100. Gurudev talks about why we need to remain rooted in our culture. He explains the popularity of spirituality and mindfulness in the West as a worldwide acceptance while Indians are straying far from it. We need to return to a grassroots level to understand which direction we can propel our country in.
Let’s look at 3 of the most important thoughts Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar shared in this insightful webinar.
1. The Importance of Having a Dream
We all have an innate desire to live a good life. Having dreams that shape our future is vital to the lives of every person. Without dreams, there is nothing to plan or look forward to; nothing to work towards. Dreams differ from person to person. Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar points out how having dreams or daydreaming is often connected to a negative connotation, yet dreams are what keep us going, they motivate us to never give up on life. So, it’s crucial to have a dream; personally, and professionally as well as having a dream for our country. We dream of something better than what we presently have and why shouldn’t we do the same for our country?
2. Don’t Lose Heart & Stay Resilient
One of the biggest reasons people fail is due to discouragement. Our tendency is to think that everything should happen more quickly than it does. This forces us to lose patience and heart and give up. We must remember that difficulties, enemies, obstacles, and problems are a normal part of everyone’s life. Just because you experience those things doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing something wrong. The reality is that whenever you try to progress in a positive direction, there will be some opposition. Circumstances cannot be controlled, what you can control is your reaction to them.
3. Meditation Can Vastly Improve Our Health
On October 26, 2022, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar launched a nationwide mental health project called “Har Ghar Dhyan” that aims to educate the youth in urban and semi-urban areas about mental health, teaching them to employ the power of meditation for better health. In recent decades, public interest in mindfulness meditation has soared. Paralleling, and perhaps feeding, the growing popular acceptance has been raising scientific attention. The youth are the true future of our country and with the simple practice of mindfulness exercises, they can keep stress, anxiety, and other mental health problems at bay. Not only that, but meditation can also vastly improve focus and concentration, improving overall educational performance.
