Little Reasons To Smile Today

We are taught to think of happiness as an end goal. It is a destination that we must reach and work hard for. It is touted to be a state of euphoria that we will eventually get after a particular set of goals is completed.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. Happiness is not an exclusive state of mind you will somehow reach after hitting your targets. Instead, it is a choice. Happiness is a choice you make in every living moment of your existence. It is in the little reasons to smile around you. It is found in the most boring, routine things around you.

Now, let’s get to the tricky part. In the course of our daily lives, it can get increasingly challenging to find something to smile about and be happy about. Every once in a while, we could all use little reasons to smile. And we are here to help you achieve just that. These four little reasons to smile are a reminder that no matter what is going on around you, you will always have something to be happy and grateful about.

Little Reasons To Smile

1. Waking Up

Do you have any idea how many people have this small but miraculous action taken away from them? So the smallest yet most important reason for you to smile every day is that you get to wake up in this beautiful, complex world and make your presence felt. Smile because you got to wake up and have this present moment to yourself.

2. Fresh Air

As per the Canadian Lung Association, an average human breathes about 22,000 times every day. It is easy to take something we do that many times without noticing for granted. We get it. But the next time you step into an open space, take a moment to focus on your breathing. Focus on how you take in the fresh air filled with the scent of trees, flowers, people, and everything else around you. Just remember that one little reason to smile today is that you get to breathe in the clean, fresh air.

3. Quiet Spaces

There will come a time in your day when you will part ways with everyone in your life. A time when you will bid them goodbye and return home to retire for the day in your room or apartment. The place you call home doesn’t matter; all that matters is that there is a time in your day when you can appreciate quiet spaces and the company of yourself. Enjoy these moments. Savor them. Be grateful that sometimes you are content within the silent company of yourself.

4. Your Body

A lot of people among us are familiar with the constant feeling of not loving yourself because of how you look on the outside. But every time we do that, we forget how strong our bodies really are. Your body allows you to walk, run, create art, and do much more every single day. How could you not love a body that allows you to do all these amazing things over and over again? So that’s right here, another reason for you to smile today.
